How Our Bottle Drives Support The Local Community

 There are so many wonderful local organizations that are doing great things for Calgarians. Some are helping those less fortunate or in need of support. Some are getting others out into their community to thrive and create belonging. All non-profit organizations offer something special to the community around them but most are underfunded or have to raise funds on their own entirely. Bottle drives have become one way for a non-profit organization to do this.

With the current public health crisis, there became a need to pivot the way bottle drives worked. Organizations still needed to utilize this important fundraising tool, but they were unable to collect bottles door to door and at some times, they couldn’t even have them dropped at a single location. To help with this, online bottle drives became more of the norm.

While it is a great way to bring a community and a group together, an in-person bottle drive that is co-ordinated on a set day takes a lot of work and volunteers. Some organizations may continue to do them a few times a year simply for community support, but they now know that an online bottle is simply more efficient for them to manage throughout the year. They also ensure that funds come in throughout the whole year rather than just large amounts at once.

An online bottle drive allows a group’s supporters various options to individually return their bottles and designate the refund to them online. You simply come to the bottle depot, drop off curbside or schedule a pick up and we will add the refund amount to the bottle drive of the group requested. 

For those times that an organization chooses to offer an in-person bottle drive where they collect bottles door to door or set up a drop off location, we provide tons of support as well. We have marketing resources, sign templates, bag tags, bag racks and even a truck that can be used to transport the donated bottles to the depot. 

Regardless of how a group chooses to raise funds, we strive to help support them to maximize what they can raise and the amount of awareness the community has of what they offer. We see this as an excellent opportunity to be a good community member and help out the important groups around us.

The money raised through bottle drives goes to the organizations directly involved. They can then put the money to good use to help others and bring others together in their community. Some great organizations that use an online bottle drive include those that offer activities to keep kids and teens active, to help seniors with things they may not be able to do independently anymore and to provide food to the less fortunate.
